This breezy and brainy film from the director of The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, titillates with riotously funny moments and hilariously perceptive insights. Opera-loving Allegra has just split with her girlfriend when she meets Philip (Justin Kirk, Shortbus), a charming but attached Columbia professor, and begins to wonder if she wants a girlfriend at all. A no-strings fling seems a good way to find out, but she’s soon distracted by cute Grace (Gretchen Mol, The Notorious Bettie Page).
Featuring the uptown locations and neurosis of the Woody Allen Annie Hall-era, this is a classy romantic comedy.
