Red Doors 18

Wed 15 Aug  1830hrs Watershed
Dir: Georgia Lee  USA ’05  1hr 32mins

In Chinese tradition, red doors are said to bring good luck to a household, but for the Wong family, harmony couldn't be further away. Newly retired, the depressed patriarch plots to abandon his family, but his plans are derailed by the actions of his daughters; sophisticated Samantha questions her career and pending marriage when she encounters an old flame, doctor Julie falls for a sultry actress researching a role, and teenage Katie embarks on a dangerous flirtation with her school nemesis.

A fresh and well-scripted debut, Red Doors contemplates the burden of expectations and the strange difficulties of connecting with those we love the most.
