It's the summer holidays and 16-year-old Sonja has outgrown everything. Her boyfriend is boring, her mother aggravates her and she seems crammed into their little flat. As friends swap sex stories in bus shelters and boys flock round her provocative best friend, Sonja begins to recognise where her desire lies. A visit to her estranged father and a terrible attempt at heterosexuality are the catalyst for real change. What makes this tender coming-of-age story special are the strong performances by the young cast under the direction of first-time filmmaker and former actress Liimatainen.
